I didn't take the straight route into art direction. I studied software engineering, trained in film direction, and learned graphic design by doing it—an odd mix that taught me to think in systems, scenes and very small details.

Design taught me craft. Cinema taught me rhythm, tension and point of view. Art direction became the place where both meet: giving an idea a world, then making sure every frame belongs to it.

I'm suspicious of work that looks beautiful but says nothing. I like ideas with a clear thought, a human edge and enough detail to reward a second look. I also tend to give them a third, fourth and unnecessarily fifth look.
