Project note
Brief
Create a new Egyptian restaurant brand around the founder's real childhood story. While his father worked in the Gulf, he lived with his paternal grandmother in rural Egypt, grew attached to her cooking—especially traditional Egyptian clay-pot dishes—and remembered the songs she sang as she cooked. The brief was to translate that memory into a complete identity for a restaurant intended for Greece.
Target
Build a distinctive, emotionally resonant restaurant experience that could introduce rural Egyptian cuisine to diners beyond Egypt and make the founder's story visible across the identity, packaging, proposed space and social communication—without reducing it to generic heritage styling.
Audience
People who love Egyptian food, alongside culturally curious diners who want to discover a distinct Egyptian and Middle Eastern food tradition.
The work25 source pieces
01Moodboard & logo construction
A family memory becomes a mark.
A visual recipe built from memory.
The logo is constructed like a dish from meaningful ingredients: a simple outline portrait of the client's real grandmother, an arched frame inspired by old rural Egyptian doorways and a tomato plant referencing a foundation of Egyptian cooking and clay-pot dishes. The arch becomes a gateway into the world; botanical fragments become patterns across packaging, social media and banners.
Draw the client's real grandmother as a simple outline and make her the emotional centre of the mark
Use the tomato plant as a recurring ingredient and pattern because tomatoes sit at the heart of many Egyptian clay-pot dishes
02Cultural references & experience concepts
Rural memory, made tangible.
The insight
A grandmother's food is remembered for more than the recipe. Her voice, rituals and care become part of the taste; that emotional memory could become the brand's most distinctive ingredient.
Art direction
The visual direction translates a rural Egyptian memory into a refined, premium system rather than a folkloric pastiche. The proposed experience extends from the real grandmother's portrait and rural doorway motif to botanical pattern, packaging, colourful rural garments, traditional floor dining, clay cookware and Egyptian coffee cups—treating every touchpoint as part of the same story.
Balance rural Egyptian warmth with a refined, premium tone rather than a mass-market treatment
Extend the identity into conceptual restaurant cues: colourful rural garments, floor dining, clay cookware and coffee cups
03Packaging concepts & mockups
Take the story home.
Design the takeaway bag and clay-pot box around a consistent colour system, easy opening and practical use
04References, social & banner concepts
The doorway becomes a campaign.
FROM GRANNY'S HEART TO YOUR TABLE
The brand treats the grandmother's care as the invisible ingredient connecting the food, identity and guest experience. It brings the warmth of a rural Egyptian home into a restaurant intended to feel generous, personal and premium.
Shape the curved frame after the arched doors of old rural Egyptian homes, then reuse it as a gateway into the brand world
